On May 23, 1893, an angry mob rushed into a Corunna jail, looped a rope around the neck of an accused murderer, and jerked the man into the street. After hanging him from a nearby tree, the mob dragged the body over Corunna’s streets before finally cutting up the rope and the man’s clothes and passing them out as souvenirs.
