On September 28, 1912, the Muskegon High School football team defeated Hastings High 216-0 in what was believed at the time to be the most lopsided drubbing of a high school football team in world history.

Muskegon player Fred Jacobs scored 54 points for the Big Red with nine of the team’s 32 touchdowns.
