Huron Valley Correctional Facility

On Aug. 20, 1981, the Huron Valley Men’s facility, the state’s third maximum-security prison, opened near Ypsilanti. Twenty maximum-security inmates from the Marquette prison were the first of 411 of the toughest prisoners in the state to move to the $20 million facility.

Today, the facility serves as the only prison in Michigan which houses females. The facility provides all reception center processing which includes thirteen housing units for general population prisoners in level I, II, and IV, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT), Residential Treatment Program (RTP), Acute Care, Infirmary and Detention.

Women’s Huron Valley services include personnel, prisoner records, business office, maintenance operations, warehouse operations and houses Correctional Mental Health Programs Administration.
