Legislation meant to protect rape victims from discriminatory use of lie detector tests has been signed into law by Gov. Milliken.
Under the lie detector restriction bill, law enforcement officers would not be able to request, order or offer an alleged rape victim a polygraph test. The strictures are meant to keep police from requiring, or effectively mandating, the tests before they’ll pursue rape charges.
