2016 : L. L. Bean Opens Store In Clinton Township

Michigan’s first L. L. Bean Store is located in Clinton Township.

“We’ve been looking to open a Michigan store for four years,” he said. “Our brand is strong in Michigan. … Michigan has great outdoor activities.”

Events throughout the weekend include a chance to win a trip to Maine, free fly-casting and archery lessons, slacklining and a Kids’ Day on Sunday.

L.L. Bean’s Bootmobile — a truck modified to look like a giant Bean Boot — will circle the mall and will hit the Woodward Dream Cruise throughout the weekend.

If they were real boots

Shoe sizes would be 747 and 708. The person wearing them would be about 143 feet tall. That’s 32 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty.

Bootmobile 1 – Built on a Ford F250 frame, steel and fiberglass construction

Bootmobile 2 – Built on a GMC Sierra 2500 HD chassis frame, aluminum and fiberglass construction

Details

Shoelaces are made of 12-strand braided mooring rope, capable of towing 106,000 lb.
