1915 : Ypsilanti Boarding Houses Can Set Their Own Rules Governing Gentleman Callers

In 1915, State Attorney General Grant Fellows ruled that the state board of education had no power to regulate private boardinghouses in Ypsilanti where young women who attended the State Normal College resided. The ruling established that rules governing, for example, gentlemen callers, were up to each landlady.
