You can call it The Little House.
The University of Michigan-Flint drew more than 400 fans to the school’s first home football game Saturday. Playing at Atwood Stadium in Flint, the team lost 24-22 to Wright State University.
Since the University of Michigan Wolverines play in “The Big House” in Ann Arbor, one fan joked that Atwood Stadium should be nicknamed, “The Little House.”
“It’s kind of fun,” said Brian Furze, 47, of Clio. “We finally have a college game right here. Everybody’s talking about it. It’s supposed to get Flint going and turn it into a college town.”
Fans braved the rainy weather to root for the new team, nicknamed the University of Michigan-Flint Kodiaks. Like the varsity squad, the team colors are blue and gold, but the mascot is a bear.
