Retail magnate Fred Meijer’s final dream for Meijer Gardens was that a Japanese Garden becomes a part of the institution that bears his name.
That dream comes true today.

• Meijer Gardens is at 1000 East Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids.
• Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
• Admission is $12 for ages 14-64, $9 for seniors and students, $6 for children ages 5-13 and $4 for ages 3-4 . Kids 2 and under get in free.
