One of Michigan’s natural treasures will soon be showcased on a quarter.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula has been selected as one of the designs for the 2018 America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The quarter will feature Chapel Rock and the White Pine that grows on top of it. The quarter will be released in February 2018.
In 2010, the United States Mint began issuing 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is #41. In all, there will be 56 quarters in the series, released between 2010 and 2021.
